Therapists Need Therapy, Too

Hey y’all! I am a 37 year old wife, mom , Licensed Counselor, Mindset Coach, & Speaker from Derby City. There’s no secrets to how I get it all done, I just believe in… well….YOLO! My life is busy with lots of friends , family time, schedules , fun, and what I like to call “somewhat” organized chaos.

So who am I really? Personally, I am a wife. I have been married for over 15 years to my husband. He is a Louisville native. We have 3 incredible children who keep us very busy. Our oldest daughter is 12 and we also have boy/girl twins who are 7 years old. I am an extrovert and love anything with people. I have an amazing tribe of women who support me in my life day to day, friends are everything to me.  I love to dance and music is my language. Professionally, I am the co- owner of Martin & Muir Counseling. Martin & Muir is a mental health agency that strives to reduce the stigma of mental health in our community. We primarily serve youth and families.  In addition, I am the owner of Silver Linings Coaching & Consulting where I am able to use my experience to coach individuals and shift mindsets, host workshops, write grants, and speak publicly on mental health. My passions include working on all things related to mental health, youth trauma and violence, and women empowerment. I am also the co- founder of The Show Up Movement which hosts an annual women’s empowerment conference called The Show UP Summit. In addition, I am a board member for Sponsor 4 Success, a community non profit that aims to support individuals on the path to success. All of my professional and personal endeavors are centered around helping others , it is truly a passion of mine.

Over the past year, I have struggled with my own mental health and found it inspiring to start writing. Hidden depression and anxiety is real even for professionals. Since I started therapy, I began writing as part of my healing journey. I began  writing about my own personal barriers to overcoming mental health. I love  sharing my own experiences and hope to inspire the people around me. My blog will cover a variety of topics related to mental health, parenting and motherhood , personal growth, business, and entrepreneurship.

My life mantra these days is to “Be Humble & Be Confident” . The foundation for who I am comes from being born and raised in a small town in Western , KY! I called Paducah , KY home for 18 years before moving to Louisville, KY.  I attended college at the University of Louisville and have called Louisville, KY home now for the past 19 years. I’m really showing my age here! Louisville is a big city with a small town feel. Everyone seems to know everyone which makes me feel right at home. Louisville is filled with creatives, artists, entrepreneurs, businesses, sports, shopping, and an amazing food scene.

So , through my own journey in self growth, healing, starting a business , raising a family, and more this blog was created. I will be posting a couple times of month on Wednesdays about various topics. Each month I will also spotlight a woman in our community to share their stories, truths, and successes. I believe there’s so much to learn from one another as women and as women we must Show UP for one another. You can also follow me on social media to learn more about my ventures both business and personal.

I can’t wait to share all the things with you all and empower you to live your most authentic life.

Thanks for being here!
